Here’s Where You Can Find Me

These days, you can find me in two places:

I’m writing about DFW-are restaurants for The Infatuation.

And I’m on Substack (like everyone else you know). My friend Molly and I are editors of The Learning Curve, a bi-weekly, Wednesday-morning newsletter featuring women’s voices and stories.

Our stories are important.

This is a place to share our understandings, joys, and learnings through story.

We understand, as women, that strength is in knowing not only ourselves but also our community. On our journeys, while riding our own learning curves, be them steep or gentle, we come to understand that through sharing our honest truth, comes beauty.

Each letter will differ, but our stories will be similar.

Here we share about womanhood, curiosities, passions, and awareness, among other themes. Each of these letters contributes to a larger conversation. This is a place of mindful consumption and intellectual stimulation; we hope, in our own ways, that by reading about othersโ€™ journeys, we may feel empowered toward action in our own.

The Learning Curve letters span a variety of talesโ€”some of heartbreak and pain, some of the art that we canโ€™t shake, and others about truths we uncovered in others. We will also share our very favorite things that get us through each day. The little joys in life that are actually quite great.

Weโ€™d love for you to join us. Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and Substack and you’ll never miss an update.

Best of 2018

2018 was a great year for these Smiths. Some highlights: moving into our new home, my brotherโ€™s engagement to my best babe, and our trip to Rome. Not sure how 2019 can top it, but I’m ready to see it try!

In the grand tradition of yearly โ€œbest lists,โ€ both Austin Kleon and Barack Obama put out their year-end lists (they both have excellent taste). List-making and -keeping is something I really enjoy, and Iโ€™d like to continue the habit into the future. I made my own best-of list for some great books I read in 2018, but I wanted to track the movies, t.v. shows, and albums I enjoyed this year as well.
