Best of 2018

2018 was a great year for these Smiths. Some highlights: moving into our new home, my brother’s engagement to my best babe, and our trip to Rome. Not sure how 2019 can top it, but I’m ready to see it try!

In the grand tradition of yearly “best lists,” both Austin Kleon and Barack Obama put out their year-end lists (they both have excellent taste). List-making and -keeping is something I really enjoy, and I’d like to continue the habit into the future. I made my own best-of list for some great books I read in 2018, but I wanted to track the movies, t.v. shows, and albums I enjoyed this year as well.

Rotten Tomatoes: Best Movies of 2018

Of these, I loved Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, I, Tonya, To All the Boys I Loved Before, Searching, A Quiet Place, and Love, Simon. In addition to this list, I saw and loved Coco, Molly’s Game, and PBS’ Little Women.

The A.V. Club: The Best TV of 2018

I watched and enjoyed a lot of these (especially the top 11), although I was disappointed to see that Maniac was left off of most year-end best lists. I also really enjoyed both seasons of American Vandal, all three of Catastrophe, and Chis and I have been laughing our butts off as we binge our way through Parks and Rec on Netflix.

All Songs Considered: Listeners’ 100 Favorite Albums Of 2018

I’m pretty out of touch with pop music these days, but Maggie Rogers and Leon Bridges provided my soundtrack this summer.
