I put a list together of my favorite things I purchased for our new house. We made some big purchases, like a sofa, a king bed, and a dining set, but the items I listed below are mostly budget buys — with a few splurges — that would work for a new home or even a refresh for a current home. Most importantly, these items are the details that helped our house feel like ours.
Blush Pink Shallow Bowls
I reach for these shallow bowls every day, and they’re especially pretty against our black cabinets and shelves.
Bodega Glassware Set
I purchased the full set of 17 oz., 12 oz., 7.5 oz., and the carafe. I reach for the 12 oz. glasses most often, but I love the 7.5 oz. for wine or even for serving nuts or olives with a cheese board.
Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet
My mom gifted us a set of cast iron skillets, and we use them every stinkin’ day, either on the stove or in the oven. They‘re easy to clean and continue to get better with frequent use.
Brown Sugar & Chestnut Candles
Inexpensive candles that smell just as good as they look.
Aesop Resurrection Hand Soap
A splurge for sure, but it smells amazing — like herbs and spice.
Marble Hex Coasters
I bought several sets of these to scatter around the house. I put them under my soaps in each bathroom, on every nightstand, and left a stack on our coffee table as well as our kitchen island.
White Vintage Wash Sheets
The best sheets I’ve ever had! They’re crisp like linen and are cool and cozy.
Parachute Waffle Towels
Gorgeous and absorbent Turkish towels. I hung a hand towel in each bathroom and stocked the master with a set of full-sized bath towels.
