Recent Reads is a series for me to feature the last few books I’ve read (or experienced) along with my verdicts.
I’ve based my reading goals for this year on Modern Mrs. Darcy’s 2018 Reading Challenge (listed here). Here’s my 2018 Reading Challenge list if you’d like to take a look…
As a Lit major and a lifelong lover of books, it took me a long time to feel okay with abandoning a book. I think I became predisposed to thinking that if a book is deemed IMPORTANT, I didn’t want to miss out on the cultural experience. I always want to enjoy a book and find something redeeming in it; but, ultimately, I’m coming around to the idea that life is too short to read a book I’m not enjoying.
Packing carry-on only is the way Chris and I prefer to travel: It’s light, it’s easy, and it saves time.
I used to think it was too difficult to pack everything I’d need in a carry-on, but I’ve changed my tune. Think it will be too hard? Challenge yourself: just to plan to pack in your carry-on. Seriously. Just say that you will and then do it. Amazingly, I still always overpack even with the limited space.
Here are guidelines I follow to make sure I pack well for each trip…
Last summer, Chris and I spent three weeks in Europe. We toured northern Italy during our first week (in Milan, Florence, Bolzano, and Verona to be specific) and our final week was a road trip along the southern coast of Iceland. But this post is about the second leg of our trip: five days in Amsterdam!
I’ve put together some notes from our trip to the “Venice of the North” if you’d like to see…
My sweet mama Carmel Paine has read 25 books already this year (!!!), so I thought I’d ask her to write a guest post on her favorite books so far. I enjoyed hearing her perspective on the books she likes, and I’m sure you’ll love her reviews, too.
