Our Day in Verona
Verona was our last stop before we returned to Milan for our flight to Amsterdam. Since the train from Bolzano stopped in Verona, we made sure to budget time in the fair city. Looking back, I think it was my favorite spot from our Italian stops.
I’ve put together some photos and notes from our trip if you’d like to take a look…

Bolzano is not a typical Italian vacation destination. It is far north in the foothills of the Dolomites and was part of Austria only until the mid-twentieth century. But even though you don’t hear much about it, Bolzano (or “Bozen” in German) is fascinating: it is a bicultural city — the population is equally split between Italian-speaking and German-speaking. In many ways, we felt like we’d left Italy for Austria or even Germany with the green rolling hills and the cooler temps.

Chris and I had always wanted to visit Italy. Since our stay was one week, we wanted to visit as many cities as we could while savoring our experience.
We knew we absolutely had to see Florence, so we made sure to add the city to our itinerary. I’ve put together some photos and notes from our 24-hour stay if you’d like to take a look…

Chris and I had always wanted to visit Italy, so we decided to make the most of our week, visiting as many cities as we could while still slowing down enough to enjoy each destination. We flew into and out of Milan, which made it easy to plan our train travel to other northern Italian cities.
It was a wonderful week. We wouldn’t have changed a thing, and we can’t wait to go back. Here are some notes about traveling to and around Italy, including a Milan city guide. I hope you enjoy!

A family friend reached out to us recently about our trip to Iceland in June. Her daughter will visit Iceland in a few weeks, and she wanted some tips on what to see and what to expect on her trip.
When people hear that we visited Iceland, they have all kinds of questions about what it’s like. Well, here’s the deal: Iceland is magic. The photos can’t really do the landscape justice, but Iceland is one of the most beautiful places on Earth with the kindest people and the cutest animals. An added perk was that we were able to add our week-long stopover to our flight home from Amsterdam without any additional airfare.
Let me encourage you to take the trip if you ever get the chance. Iceland is an incredible, almost other-worldly place.

Chris and I celebrated our anniversary last summer with a long weekend in Marfa. When our anniversary rolled around this summer, I remembered what a fun time we had. Now I can’t wait to go back! Although for our next visit, I’m thinking spring or fall would be a better time than July. What were we thinking?
Since people are interested and excited to hear that we’ve been to Marfa, I thought I’d share our itinerary and a few pointers for what to expect in this quirky west Texas town.
